Gelcoats

Our Gelcoats serve as protective exterior layers for laminate surfaces when applied to molds. We offer a range including Orthophthalic, NPG, Isophthalic, and Tooling Gelcoats, all customizable in a vast array of colors to match desired aesthetics. Their gloss levels mirror those of the molds they are applied to, and they are suitable for both brush and spray applications.

With a commitment to offering top-tier Technical Support in the Composites Industry, we strive for our customers to achieve maximum effectiveness from their products and manufacturing techniques. Leveraging solid industry experience and personalized recommendations, we’ve helped customers realize greater cost benefits and increase output capabilities.

Our Gelcoats find applications in the Moulding, Automotive, and Construction industries. Here’s a glimpse of some of the Gelcoats available from Link Composites. For more information, feel free to reach out to us.

Orthophthalic Gelcoats

Our Orthophthalic Gelcoats are crafted using thixotropes, surfactants, pigments, and accelerators, enhancing component durability while promoting an excellent aesthetic finish. Ideal for non-critical applications, they offer enhanced protection for laminates in external environments. With a smooth surface, these Gelcoats eliminate the necessity for painting, providing a sleek aesthetic finish.

Isophthalic Gelcoats

Our Isophthalic Acid-based Gelcoats excel in providing superior water and environmental resistance, boasting enhanced blister resistance and toughness compared to Orthophthalic-based counterparts. These Gelcoats also offer superior gloss retention, UV stability, and typically lower styrene emissions. Additionally, our Isophthalic Lloyds, IRS, approved Gelcoats are available.

NPG Gelcoats

Our NPG-based Gelcoats and skin coats provide superior resistance to blister formation compared to our Isophthalic Acid Propylene Gelcoats. They exhibit higher chemical and heat resistance, making them suitable for various industries, with particular prominence in the marine sector and sectors like water slides with regular contact with water and exposure to sunlight.

Tooling and Vinylester Gelcoats

Our Tooling Gelcoats stand out for their ability to cure to a much harder surface compared to regular gelcoat types, allowing for a higher level of polish and luster. Vinylester Gelcoats offer maximum resistance to chemicals and solvents. With a high deformation temperature, they are well-suited for parts used with high peak exotherm resins or when post-curing is required, effectively reducing cracking. Additionally, corrosion resistance guides are available upon request.

VARIENTS INCLUDE: SPRAY, HANDLEY UP , FIRE RETARDENT, AND PREPIGMENTED GELOCATS are available as per requirements.
